How to Purge Records When You Get An Insufficient Memory Error
Note: First you need to check the HOME directory and determine what variables you have. You should have RDS and IOPAR. If you have anything other than these 2 items, they need to be "purged". With RDS and IOPAR residing in the HOME directory on a HP 48G Calculator you can download 30 units before you need to "purge" the records.
To free up memory so you can do a download from the HP to the computer:
1. Turn the calculator on.
2. Press the "green" right shift key, then the TIC key (this key has the word HOME written above it in green.)
3. Press the white key that corresponds to RDS.
4. Press the white key that corresponds to REC.
Note: Once in the Records directory, search for any "SO" readings. You can check more than one screen by pressing the NXT key located at the top right.
5. Press the TIC key (This key has "HOME" written above it in green.)
6. If you have "SO" readings press the white key under the SO.? reading.
7. SO.? should appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
Note: If you have an SO.? reading proceed to step 10.
Note: If you don’t have SO.? readings you will lose data. Proceed to step 8.
8. If no SO readings, select the legitimate serial number that you can do without. Then press the white key that corresponds to it.
9. The 7 digit serial number should appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
10. Press the "purple" left shift key, then the EEX key (this key has PURG written above it in purple.)
11. The serial number should disappear.
12. Do this 5 times to free enough memory to download to the computer.
