Determine What’s Missing and How to Copy It

Customer needs to determine whether he/she needs to copy the RDS program or one of its files.  Do this by turning the HP on and pressing the green right shift key, then the TIC key (has the word HOME written above it in green).  This will take you to the HOME directory.  RDS should appear in the lower left corner, if it is not there, you will need to copy the RDS program.  You can do this via the computer or another HP.  Refer to (How to Copy RDS Program form one HP to another HP or How to Copy RDS Program From Computer to the HP 48G/GX).  If RDS does appear in the lower left corner, press the white key that corresponds to it.  The files contained in the RDS program are:  MENU  REC  CHO  PCHO  CANC  CONTI  CNT  IOPAR  UTILS  PPAR they should appear in this order.  If for whatever reason you don’t have one of these, you will have to copy that particular file from another HP or PURGE all of the RDS program from your HP and reload the RDS program from a computer or another HP.

 

Example Problem:

 

When you turn the HP on and your in the HOME directory, RDS is in the lower left on the screen. Press the white key for RDS.  When the files in the RDS  program appear, you notice that the MENU is not there.

 

Solution:

 

The easiest solution would be to copy MENU from another HP (Refer to How to Copy RDS Files From One HP to Another HP).  If you do not have another HP you can PURGE the rest of the RDS program (Refer to How to PURGE the RDS Program From the HP).
